The department of Consular Affairs supports the Governor of Sint Maarten in the execution of his Kingdom duties.
These include:
- Processing requests from foreigners who would like to become Dutch citizens through option or naturalization;
- Issuing Dutch travel documents like national passports, diplomatic passports, and emergency documents;
- Issuing Schengen visas;
- Issuing Caribbean visas only for temporary stay (MVV) in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.
