His Excellency A.G. (Ajamu) Baly was appointed Governor of Sint Maarten by Royal Decree on September 15, 2022.
Governor Baly
This happened on the advice of the Council of Ministers of Sint Maarten, with approval from the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
His Majesty King Willem-Alexander received Mr. Ajamu Baly at the Palace Huis ten Bosch October 4, 2022. The King has sworn him in as Governor of Sint Maarten, effective October 10, 2022. During a solemn meeting of the Parliament of Sint Maarten, Governor Baly officially assumed office.

After having worked some time as a lawyer at an investment bank in the Netherlands, Mr. Baly continued his career in Sint Maarten at the Judicial Affairs Department of the Ministry of Justice. In early 2012, he became a member of the Student Finance Appeals Committee, where he later also served as chairman. In January 2014, he started working at the Advisory Council as Secretary-Director.
In 2015 Mr. Baly was appointed as a board member of the Stichting Justitiële Inrichtingen Sint Maarten, SJIS. In August of 2017 he joined the supervisory board of the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten, CBCS. From February 2022 until his appointment as Governor of Sint Maarten, Mr. Baly worked as a Deputy Examining Magistrate at the Joint Court of Justice in Sint Maarten.
After his education at the Sister Borgia primary school and subsequently the Milton Peters College in Sint Maarten, Mr. Baly moved to the Netherlands to study law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Shortly after obtaining his degree, he returned to his native country to actively dedicate himself to the community of Sint Maarten.
