The Governor of Sint Maarten represents the King in Sint Maarten. He follows a strict protocol in his work.
This protocol covers, for example, the titles of address, ceremonial occasions, and the rules for invitations to receptions and visits by the Governor.
The Governor is addressed as Excellency.

The Governor of Sint Maarten regularly receives local guests and guests from abroad. At some receptions, he is accompanied by his wife. There are various types of receptions, such as official visits, audiences, dinners, and lunches.
The receptions take place at various locations: at het Cabinet of the Governor of Sint Maarten at Falcon Drive 2 in Philipsburg, at the residence of the Governor or other locations suitable for the theme of the meeting.
The level of protocol and ceremony varies depending on the occasion. This is mostly about the rules for reception, photography, and the seating of guests.
De Governor of Sint Maarten makes regular visits locally and abroad. He is sometimes accompanied by his wife. These visits may consist of events, working visits, and official visits.
The Governor attends events to demonstrate his commitment to society. These events can include openings, anniversaries, cultural activities, commemorations, and exhibitions.
In addition, he makes various work visits annually, focusing on specific topics and ongoing matters within the community. Visits abroad are usually of an official nature, such as visits to Saint Martin and other countries in the region.
The level of protocol and ceremony varies per visit. This is mostly about the rules regarding the Governor's arrival, the welcome ceremony, seating of guests, and the Governor's departure.
Invitations from the Governor for a reception by the Governor are personal and non-transferable.
Invitations to the Governor and his wife must be submitted at least four weeks in advance. This can be done by post via the Cabinet of the Governor of Sint Maarten on Falcon Drive 2, or by e-mail at kabinet@kabgsxm.com.
It is not sufficient to send only a printed invitation or card. A cover letter must be included with the invitation. In this letter, the invitation must be explained. A program overview and brief background information must also be included. If the request concerns an action by the Governor or his wife, for example an official opening or a speech, this must be clearly stated in the letter. The Governor reserves the right at all times to accept or decline an invitation.
The aide-de-camp of the Governor manages his agenda. The aide-de-camp also helps with the preparation of appointments, receipts and visits of the Governor. Visits of the Governor are prepared at least 3 weeks in advance. The aide-de-camp visits the locations in advance and discusses the program and details with the hosting party.
